Alright fall of 2008 is officially under way, and I can already tell by what has happened the first week that this year is going to be "interesting"! I have like a friend/familiar face in almost all my classes, which i definitely like. My parents actually know and/or work with the majority of my profs- and im not sure if i like that! ; ) But, the first week of classes were full with so many stories. I just have really interesting kind of bizarre profs to say the least. Well my very first class, 9 am on MWF, is taught by Mitsi Z. (her last name is really long). And the whole class the first day was just us going around the room and introducing ourselves. After everyone said their "interesting" tid bit about themselves, she would usually comment about it, or have some story to go along with what they said. For example, this one girl said she had "sung at a Miss America" pageant. So after this our prof said, "well I usually dnt tell many people this, but... you are looking at the Miss --- (some county) of 1991!! I was in Miss America!" lol I thought this was hillarious because she totally fits that type. My dad told me before going to that class that shes really perky, but also very naive. He also said i would like her, but you will see later why shes naive. So we make our way to the back of the room, and we have 3 black girl basketball players in our class. Immediately when they said their names, i knew who they were. My parents and i try to go to quite a few of the Lady Raider bball games to support Marsha Sharp, who my mom really respects. Shes known to be very professional, and has a really great legacy in college basketball... actually, i think we just go to the lady raiders because my mom really dislikes bobby knight! ; ) ... anyway, I knew these girls played for our school, and their interesting fact was "favorite sport is basketball"...none of them ever said they played for Tech, but im pretty sure people in our class knew they played. And anyway, most faculty at least should know! Anyway, after they introduced themselves, she just looks at them, and in her perky (imagine beauty queen) voice says, "OKAY!" and then immediately looks at the next person. ahaha i was like...uhhh interesting. So THEN, we get to LA Reed, alright im pretty sure everyone in our class knew who this was. Hes not as big as like the quarter back, but he is WELL-known! So we get to him, and he says, "Hi, Im LA Reed..." and our prof goes, "oh, like L-A?!" and hes just like, "yeah..." and Mitsi says, "Oh, so you just go by your initials, like L-A?!" and he goes, "yeah..." ahahaha i thought this was so funny. And as you can see, NAIVE! shes soo naive about some things. She also claims making tests for her classes take YEARS of her life! She was like "Please take my tests seriously, because those are days that i spend taking the time to make them, that i could be with family, or spending time with my husband...actually thats like DAYS of my life i spend on it. I am not complaining or anything, i know its part of my job. But please.." Lets just exaggerate a little more! haha shes just so ridiculous you cant help but like her.
Alright, so thats Mitsi's class. Now, the other one is a "doosey" Our instructor is..Jan. The first day of class shes all like bouncing off the walls and told us "Yes I was a member of the Goin band from Raiderland, thats my claim to fame!" She said this at least 3 times. I'm like alright, we get that you have a lot of school spirit. Ok, so then, she just makes quite an "impression." Shes just like, "I dont understand peoples attitudes today...all this apathy! I just dont get it! I mean, i go out of my way to compliment people. And its not because im trying to get in good with them. I just enjoy making people feel good. So all this "whatever attitude" (and she holds up the whatever sign with her hands)...I dont get that!" haha so im sort of thinking, alright she could be a tad overlyzealous, but she could be a cool teacher. Alright so the next time we meet for class. I am the FIRST one in there. I didnt mean to be, it just happened i got there earlier than i thought. So i was just asking her what we were going to do today. And she was like "ohh we are watching a movie, and yada yada yada... then she goes, did you bring your book?" I was like, "Actually, no i didnt.'' And she was like "well! you really need to bring that every day! We are getting our moneys worth in here! " And just giving me a lecture on me not having my book. (Let me add we didnt even use it that day. AND she didnt ask anyone else if they had theirs. I am almost sure more than half the class didnt...) Anyway, before class started, she was up at the front talking with a deaf girl. We have one deaf girl in our class who has 2 translators that come to class with her. She is very very pretty. Anyway, my instructor is just explaining to this girl, that we are watching a movie today, and she said, "if you need to you can bring it home with you over the weekend. I know it might be kind of hard to watch the movie AND the interpreter at the same time." So the translator is signing to her. And she signs back, and says, "alright, well i will just watch it in class, and if i need to bring it home i will let you know." THEN-- my instructor just holds up the "W" aka "whatever" AHAHAHA Whhhhhat!!! That is so rude! She may have been just doing that cause she doesnt know sign language. But its like, ok did you not tell us the other day you "dont get that kind of attitude??!" this woman is so crazy.. alright so today, the 3rd day of class. I walk in, and class is just about to start. And she goes, "ohh you bring your book today!" and i said, "yes i did, just for you!" ; ) and she said, "now dont go writing on the evaluation that i picked on you!" OMG-- its like seriously, if you think i can write something like that on the evaluation, you PROB shouldnt be doing it!!!! Shes so weird! my mom was like she sounds like a nervous nancy... ok so then when im leaving, shes standing by the door. And shes like "bye meredith!" And i just said bye. And she goes, "O, cute shoes!" and i was like "thanks!" -- "whered you get them, oh i love those!"...''oh TJ MAXX" ---"oh they are way cute!" haha alright Jan way to butter me up. So yeah, i will definitely not be bored in those classes.
